Sendora vs MessageBird (Bird)

MessageBird (Bird) or Sendora — pick the trade-off, not the marketing.

MessageBird (now Bird) covers SMS + WhatsApp + Voice with strong carrier coverage. Sendora SMS supports BYOP including MessageBird routing — you keep MessageBird's wire + add audience targeting, recipient-dedup, attribution, workflow triggers on top. For WhatsApp specifically MessageBird depth wins; for SMS + lifecycle, Sendora bundles the rest.

MessageBird (Bird)

Omnichannel messaging — SMS / WhatsApp / Voice. Tight on carrier coverage + WhatsApp depth.

Sendora

Same BYOP routing (Twilio / MessageBird / Sinch) wrapped with audiences + workflows + dedup + cross-channel.

Why teams switch to Sendora

  • Keep MessageBird's carrier wire — add Sendora's audience + workflow + cross-channel layer on top.
  • Recipient-dedup + STOP sync across every Sendora channel.
  • Sendora ships Push + Email + In-App in the same tenant as SMS.

When MessageBird (Bird) is the right call

  • WhatsApp is the core channel — MessageBird's WhatsApp depth is best-in-class.
  • You need Voice routing depth — not on Sendora's roadmap.

SMS

Twilio BYOP SMS with CTIA STOP-keyword handling + recipient-dedup + `sms.*` events. Honest about what's not built yet.

Twilio is a wire. Customer.io SMS is a thin wrapper. Sendora SMS is also a thin wrapper — leaner than the others — that shares the same recipient-dedup window as Email (no double-send post-signin) and emits canonical `sms.sent / .delivered / .failed` events into the same bus as every other module. Honest about scope: today this is a Twilio-only adapter (no MessageBird / Sinch yet), with one-recipient-at-a-time send (audience fan-out via Automation workflow), CTIA-compliant STOP keyword set that suppresses **this org's SMS** (not all channels), and no Deep Links auto-wrap on outbound bodies.
